CCNN Policy on Confidentiality

"Confidentiality...the quality or state of being certain of another's discretion: a relationship of trust..." from Webster's Seventh New Collegiate Dictionary

Volunteers honor the clients and organization that they serve by respecting the following points of policy:

  • Client names and personal information are discussed only with CarePartners with "a need to know" to provide safe, effective and coordinated assistance.

  • Details of specific services provided to clients are not discussed with anyone outside of the service or project group, without the client's permission. This includes family members.

  • Any personal information learned while performing volunteer work will be held confidential.

  • Sharing of confidential information with appropriate CarePartners will be done in a way that protects the information from unintended exposure, such as through fax and telephone messages, unattended computer screens, and conversations occurring in public.

“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burden of another.”

Charles Dickens
