"Confidentiality...the quality or state of being certain of another's discretion: a relationship of trust..." from Webster's Seventh New Collegiate Dictionary
Volunteers honor the clients and organization that they serve by respecting the following points of policy:
- Client names and personal information are discussed only with CarePartners with "a need to know" to provide safe, effective and coordinated assistance.
- Details of specific services provided to clients are not discussed with anyone outside of the service or project group, without the client's permission. This includes family members.
- Any personal information learned while performing volunteer work will be held confidential.
- Sharing of confidential information with appropriate CarePartners will be done in a way that protects the information from unintended exposure, such as through fax and telephone messages, unattended computer screens, and conversations occurring in public.
